draconic_historian: (Oh joyous day!)
- Human (?) observed, Monday, 3pm. Pale coloration, yellow hair. Demonstrated some form of teleportation power, related to shadows. Shadowalker? Magic?
- Initiative teleporter able to pull same person from multiple points on timeline without them having memories of previous visits. Memory loss on return? Multiple timelines?
- New arrival, young male, red hair, magic weapon of some kind. Shows no fear of dragons. Confidently powerful? Naively innocent? Foolishly arrogant?

» CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character NAME: Ricasthix
Character PULL-POINT: A few years after moving to his new lair to study humans.
Character AGE: 170
Character ABILITIES:
-Breath weapon: Like a flamethrower. If he really focuses he can get it hot enough to melt metal (nothing harder than iron). Extended use leaves him tired, hungry, and with a sore throat that can last for days
-Magic: Ricasthix is skilled at arcane magic, with specialties in enchantment and divination
-Big: Ricasthix is a whopping 38 feet when stretched out from nose to tip of tail with a 28 foot wing span and weighing in at 800lbs.
Character HISTORY: Ricasthix had a startlingly normal childhood for a dragon. He was the eldest son in his family, having had three younger sisters. His sisters were all very competitive and liked to challenge each other to hunts, races, and mock fights. Ricasthix, however, rarely joined into such games, perferring solitude even more than normal for a species that already prefers solitude. He spent a lot of his time flying around his parent's lair, exploring. Eventually he moved away from his parents and started his own lair.

After several years, Ricasthix found that his asocial ways were hurting him. He had found some ancient ruins and was building them to make his lair, but found that he wanted a bit more historical accuracy to his restorations than he was able to supply and he knew very few people to ask for help. He HAD heard of one particular dragon that might give him some insight, however. So he set up a zillion traps around his modest hoard, scooped up a bag of particularly choice treasures and went to find this knowledgeable one: Gralonax, an elder dragon who was particularly famous for being wise on the subjects of history and humans. He eventually found Gralonax and gave the treasure he had brought up as a tribute in exchange for being the older dragon's student.

Gralonax was an unusual dragon, but was widely considered to be the leading expert on humanoid psychology. He accepted Ricasthix as a student. Gralonax was fond of taking a human form and living among them, so he taught Ricasthix to do this as well. The older dragon reasoned that in order for Ricasthix to learn more about humanoids in the past, he first had to understand humanoids in the present. Ideally humanoids who were not ruled by dragons. So he sent Ricasthix far far away to lands where his species were less common. Under cover of darkness, Ricasthix moved his hoard to a new lair: a mountain cave a few miles from a large city. He has since been living in the cave and making frequent trips down to the city in human form pretending to be an eccentric scholar of ancient civilizations
Character PERSONALITY: Ricasthix is a bit of a nerd. He is more interested in learning and understanding the world around him than he is in having fun or making friends. However where in some people this would lead to antisocial behavior, in Ricasthix it has led to him constantly mingaling with people. The subject of his study is people, and so he has devoted himself to understanding them. Since his tutor has declared that the next step to understanding people is to spend time amongst them, that is what he is going to do.

However, he has taken an unusual approach to it. He has a habit of carrying a pen and a notepad around with him which he uses to take notes on the behavior of the people around him or, more frequently, the people he has started watching stealthily from a distance. Sometimes after a particularly strong emotional reaction, he might ask you questions on why you reacted in a certain way, not taking into account that you yourself might be unable to answer logically due to being too upset/happy/angry/sad/whatever.

Ricasthix has many of the sterotypical quirks of dragons. He has a huge amount of pride, and when going about his hobby of restoring ancient monuments generally feels that he "could have done it better", which usually means making it more suited for dragon sized creatures, even if that means knocking out walls and expanding doorways, or sealing all the entrances so it is only accessible from the air. For relaxation he prefers solitude to company. He has an avid interest in trying to recreate the glory of ancient civlizations, and is especially fond of collecting antique treasures for his hoard. When it comes to a fight, he will stubbornly refuse to back down, layer himself up with enchantments, then throw himself into the fray with draconic rage.

Like all but the most eccentric of dragons, he has something of a superiority complex. He considers humanoids in general to be a lesser species. It's not hard to understand WHY he thinks this. Dragons live dozens of times longer than humans, are stronger and tougher, can fly, have a high aptitude for magic, and are just generally equipped with every advantage under the sun. He doesn't really try to bring attention to this, but if the subject DOES come up and he is pressed he will make his position known. Nothing personal, humans, you're just not as awesome as dragons are. In general. It's just logic. He approaches problems very logically, and is surprised when people around him don't do the same. To him, the world is an ordered, logical place where everything can be measured and understood if you simply know how.

He has set up his lair in Thurn, grand capital of the ancient empire of Jurgoth, which is now mostly buried in vegetation in the middle of the jungle. According to his research, the people of Jurgoth were of a particularly mystical bent, spending a lot of energy focusing on the stars and astrology. Their empire collapsed to a plague 3000 years ago that resisted all the healing of their wisemen and mystics. According to legend, they created a library of all their collected wisdom along with some of their greatest treasures and sealed it somewhere where it would last forever even after the last of them had died and crumbled to dust. Ricasthix seeks to find this lost library, partially for the learning contained within, partly for plundering the treasure within to add to his hoard. He will start telling people about his studies of Jurgoth at the drop of a hat.

» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON: After much consideration, Ricasthix will take an automated sentry gun as his weapon, for the purpose of guarding the new hoard he will be starting.
Chosen SKILLSET: Ricasthix prefers to work in the backgound. He researches, studies, and learns what he can before he even thinks of getting directly involved. He'll be an intel/research guy, with occasional dips into kicking ass if it's necessary.

First PERSON: [Video]
I know you're all probably very tired, especially after that big to do with the traitor, and I'm sure everyone is feeling more than a bit of inner turmoil.

That's actually what I would like to discuss. I'm curious just how exactly you all feel about this. Preferably in more detail than "upset". What did you feel when you found out? What do you plan to do in response? Did any of you suspect? This is important. Hang on let me get a pen...
Third PERSON: Ricasthix peered over the city from his vantage point up high in the sky, beating his wings once to maintain altitude until he could reach a thermal. Thousands, no, millions of humans, all living within a few square miles of each other in relative peace. It never ceased to amaze him that they didn't all go crazy.

He swooped down lower so he could get a better view at everyone. Many of them looked distinctly nervous when the glanced up at the dragon, despite the fact that he had been doing flybys like this for several weeks now, and hadn't eaten anyone, but he supposed he couldn't blame them. They were a lower form of life, it was only natrural they would respond with fear and wonder in the presence of something greater than themselves.

If anything, he expected them to be even more fearful than they were. There was a surprising number of humans who spoke to him as an equal. It was interesting.

» ADDITIONAL NOTES I'm planning on him setting up a lair out in some cave or abandoned building in the borderlands. Is that cool?
